An early start for me on Fridays – have to get up at 5.30 to catch the bus. Looking out the window before I left the house today – the brilliance of Venus caught me off guard shining through a gap in the clouds.
The morning star is back! Here’s a chart I made some time ago showing the altitude of Venus at the start of civil twilight (roughly 40 minutes before sunrise).
Venus has recently gone through inferior conjunction (passing between the Earth and Sun) and so it appears to move rapidly during November. It will be highest in the sky before sunrise in mid-December and will remain visible until the Spring.
Right now Venus is showing a large crescent phase – visible with binoculars if you can steady them enough.
